The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) training system was created by a team of professional English ballet dancers. While the French and American ballet styles are currently not standardized as training systems.

Below is a listing of some notable ballet methods that are still in practice today.

The Cecchetti method

This ballet style is classified according to its training method. It was established by Enrico Cecchetti as a classical ballet training strategy.

When adhering to this method, each day of the week is appointed with a particular barre timetable. It rotates working on different sides of the body week after week. This is to help a dancer achieve the greatest equilibrium, vigour, grace and flexibility possible. A trained Cecchetti professional dancer moves like a musical instrument. The hands as well as legs operate in outstanding consistency. This method highlights high quality over quantity.

The Bournonville Method

August Bournville is attributed to have established it. This method consists of a more romantic tone that brings to life a clear romance on stage.

The movements seem easy while fundamentally they are very technical. The dancer emanates fluidness and musicality. It is a very polished style that pays meticulous attention to details. The Bournonville style reaches to the heart with its expressions and romantic overtures.

The Vaganova Method

This method was developed by the Russian ballerina, Agrippina Vaganova, who danced with the Marinsky Ballet. Vaganova retired early as a ballet dancer to become a mentor. It is a blend of the romantic style of the French ballet, the Russian character that exemplifies a significant soulful quality, and the athletic mastery that characterizes the Italian school that reforms the old imperial style of ballet training.

Vaganova developed a dance technique as well as teaching guidelines which concentrates on accuracy. One of the most significant stylistic dance qualities represented in this method consist of the expressiveness of port de bras which concentrates on all parts of the arm, having mobile as well as strong lower backs, and also high flexibility with creativity.

There are a lot more ballet methods that have emerged from the influence of their precursors. The Royal Academy Ballet (RAD) method, is one of the latest ballet methods on the scene.
